Prometric Exam / Saudi Council Exam

Although some nurses who are currently working in Saudi Arabia deny that the Saudi Council Exam (otherwise known as the Prometric Examination for Nurses here in the Philippines) is a requirement for hospitals in the kingdom, reports say that indeed it is NEEDED. Some agencies (good thing for them…) advise their applicants beforehand that they have to take the Prometric Exam prior to being deployed to Saudi. However, there are other agencies claiming that the examination may be taken once the applicant is in the country. But come to think of it, you will be going to that country for work, so are you willing to be deported back again in our country if you fail the exam? For sure you would not want that to happen... Tsk tsk. Whether we like it or not their kingdom requires it now so let us just comply with that, okay? Anyway, taking it here (in the Philippines) is way cheaper as compared to taking it there.

The examination has been existent for some years now but lately it has become a mandatory for those bound to the country to work as a nurse and for others who are just about to renew their contract in Saudi. Here’s the link:

The Saudi Council Examination

The Saudi Commission requires candidates to sit the test for them to be able to evaluate an applicant’s ability in his/her field, in our case Nursing. For detailed information, here’s the link from the Prometric website:

In the Philippines, the accredited testing center for the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) Examination are:

Prometric Testing Center
Ateneo Professional Schools, 130 H. Dela Costa St., Salcedo Village, Makati City
Telephone No.: (632) 892-0383

and/or

Prometric Testing Center
Tread, Inc., Suite 308, Centro Maximo D., Jakosalem St., Cebu City
Tel no. 032-2535514

The examination is scheduled Tuesday up to Friday, with a fee of US$90.00.

Step by Step Procedures for Nurse Technician/Nurse Specialist

Go to the website: http://www.prometric.com

1. Under For Test Takers, tick the dropdown list box on Academic, Professional, Government & Corporate, scroll down and click Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.

2. You will be directed to a new window of SCHS: Saudi Commission for Health Specialties Testing and you may read on some articles there regarding the organization itself. On the Get Started Box click Start.

3. From the Program Name drop down list box: choose the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (Non-elig) --- the other options apply only to those who are currently in the kingdom --- then choose Philippines then click Next.

4. You will then be directed to a new window. Click Schedule an Exam. A new window will appear showing the details of registration (requirements, scheduling, payment, etc.). Click Next.

5. You will tick I Agree on the Policy Statement and click Next.

6. Under Exam Selection you will choose Nurse technician/Nurse specialist --- There are actually 2 options for nurses: Nurse Specialist (graduate of 4-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing course) and Nurse Technician (graduate of 2-year Nursing course). I personally cannot differentiate the two but to be sure, just ask your agency on what to choose here. FYI: Nurses from Saudi Recruitment Office (SRO) and other agencies in the metro instruct applicants to take the Nurse technician exam.

7. Another window will appear prompting you to type your address. Type in Philippines then click Search. There are two sites but it just bears the same address. On the time of writing this (March 15, 2010, 1500H), the 8475 location is not available (fully-booked). So instead, I chose 8479, Manila Philippines.

8. Click Schedule an Exam. You will be prompted to select your desired exam month, date and time.

9. You will be directed to another window and you will type some additional information. Type the required information including your name, address, birth date, e-mail address, government identification card, etc. --- In the identification card, what I typed was: Professional ID Card (the space where you will type requires a limited number of characters and ‘Professional Regulation Commission ID’ would not fit in that is why I just settled for ‘Professional ID Card.’). Anyway, you may use other government issued card like Driver’s License and Passport. --- and in the Government ID Issuing the Card, choose: Philippines.

10. After that, you will proceed to another window and you will be typing the necessary information under the Payment Information. Type the Card Number, the Security Code --- I used the Visa Card of my mom and the security code is placed at the back of the card alongside the signature.. You will type the last 3-digit code. Don’t you worry, if you got no idea on this there is a user friendly HELP button there that will show a figure, i.e., credit card, where you can spot the required digits).--- Type in the Name (the owner of the card) and the Expiration Date of the card. Review the information and click Next.

11. After that you will be asked to review the entered information once again and you will click Complete Registration.

The final window will show you the completed registration list for you to print. A confirmation e-mail will be sent to you as well in 15 minutes after registration has been completed.

My Experience in Taking the Prometric Exam

I anticipated the heavy traffic so I came an hour and 20 minutes earlier. Anyway, I was thinking that I could do some reading while waiting for the time. --- This is me. For some people, reviewing just before the exam can be disastrous since that may mix up ideas in the head.--- My scheduled time was 1100H --- pardon me for using the military time, that is the best way on putting things here to avoid confusion --- but I got there at 0940H. So after registration a lady came out from the exam room and gave me a key for the locker to place my things. All your jewelry, mobile phones, hanky, pens, bags, calculator, etc. will not be allowed inside the room. I told the lady that my scheduled exam is at 1100H but she just told me that my exam will start at 1000H.

She asked me to empty my pockets --- you will have to empty ALL your pockets in front of them one by one --- and asked for my valid identification (your PRC ID, Passport, or any government issued ID will do). Then they took a picture of me --- in here give your best smile, smiling can release tension… haha. --- and asked me to double check the details entered in their database. A guy escorted me to the exam booth. And I had to sit there for at least 2 hours.

A lot have claimed that the exam is easier than NCLEX (United States Nurse Council Licensure Examination). Perhaps it is safer to say that it is patterned after the NCLEX exam, no difference at all --- May I add that they have a pool of questions, so definitely one’s test questions will differ to another test taker.--- Questions were anything under the sun but in my case I got a lot of Pediatric Nursing items and the rest on Medical-Surgical Nursing, basic nursing stuff, no nursing theories/theorists (in my exam). I got 2 computations but those were just the basic desired/stock and some analysis (good thing there were no computation of inotropes.. haha). Some topics that I remember are as follows: Hirschsprung's, GERD, Pyloric Stenosis, Coumadin, Heparin, aPTT, deep vein thrombosis, cyctic fibrosis, Diabetes Mellitus, Diabetes Insipidus, Total Pancreatectomy, Chest tubes and management, BLS, ACLS, infant reflexes (babinski, tonic, moro, rooting, etc..), nursing diagnosis, care plan, Cushing’s, peripheral vascular/arterial disease, therapeutic communication, nursing procedures (NGT insertion, catheterization), some easy pharmacology, etcetera etcetera... If in case you want to practice like the actual exam try to grab an NCLEX CD and sit the exam! Some items were uber easy, some were challenging, and a few that can induce epistaxis and hematemesis… lol. But generally, I must agree with what others have claimed: Prometric Exam is easier than the NCLEX.

During the exam, you have an option to mark your unsure answers to questions, and later if you have enough remaining time you could always get back on those marked questions. You will know the remaining time since there is a timer on the upper right corner of the computer screen. You will have 2 hours to finish the 70-item exam and after clicking END, the screen will post your score, right then and there. The examination proctor will be coming to you in a short while to give his instructions. You will get off the exam booths room, and he will print your exam results and place a dry seal and his signature over the dry seal.

Honestly, I only browsed my notes on diagnostics and normal values a day prior to the exam date. I just thought of challenging myself on my stock knowledge and experience in practice. But if I were you, just a first hand tip, it would be better if you try to review at least a week just to refresh. Experience really helped a lot but of course the exam is based on theoretical and on-the-book nursing. Here is one thing I realized after the exam, "I should have tried browsing my notes before the test... I could have gotten a better rating..." :p

The result is valid up to 3 years.

Good Luck.

Tamaaa.. Magpaka-bibong bata. Hehe. Good luck!

uber hirap ba ng exam? kinakabahan ako kasi. hehe. dec 3 ang sked ko. huhuhu. nasa saudi ka na ba?

Sa Akin Lang Po said...

Hello Roze. I am still here in Pinas. Bedside experience is a plus factor because you're already familiar with the common meds, procedures, and skills. So what's left is for you to just browse on normal values, BLS protocols, and some notes that you can dig from your closet. I have been hearing of a few stories from exam flunkers, but those are just isolated cases. Generally, from what I read from other blogs, Filipinos find the Saudi Council exam 'easy.' Good luck! You still have 2 weeks to review.

hi... question lang po... so walang kelangangang ipasang requirements like tor, birth certificate etc before magpa schedule ng exam? diretso agad sa pagpapa schedule??

Sa Akin Lang Po said...

To Lyka, walang kailangang requirements na ipapasa. Deretso na agad sa scheduling ng exam. Minsan nga ang naiisip ko, "So pwede palang mag-take kahit sino." Yun nga lang, $90 din yun. So bakit ka pa magte-take ng exam kung alam mo naman na kulang pa yung years of experience mo (para magamit yung result ng exam at mag-apply ng license sa Saudi). Di ba? Hehe. Kailangan yung printed result ng exam and other documents kung maga-apply ka na ng license sa KSA.

Lyka said...

@Sa Akin Lang Po: Thanks! =) ang bilis mong magreply ha... oo nga, kahit sino pala eh pwede, walang requirements eh! tara everyone, exam na tayo =)

Lyka said...

@Sa Akin Lang Po: last question lang po: pwede pa bang ipa resched ang na-set mo ng date? online din or itatawag?

Sa Akin Lang Po said...

Here's what's written on the e-mail after my registration (last March 2010):

"If you need to reschedule or cancel your exam, you must call the registration center, or go to www.prometric.com, no later than noon, 72 hours prior to your appointment. There is no fee to reschedule if done at least 72 hours prior to the appointment by noon. If you reschedule or cancel less than 72 hours prior to the testing date, you will be charged for the full testing fee and will need to re-register and repay in order to schedule a new appointment. You may first contact the client in order to re-register. Candidates will need to repay the testing fee."

Sa Akin Lang Po said...

@lheng, ang alam ko pwede pang kumuha ulit.. basta magpapa-schedule ka lang ulit... pero may naririnig ako na limit ng exam attempts.. i'm not sure.

@anonymous (january 21), more on medical-surgical nursing and fundamentals. meron ring kaunting maternal and child.. that's from me and my colleagues' experience.. but in general, anything under the sun about nursing.. good luck!

thanks sa post.. pwede din ba mag take ng prometric kahit hindi RN ng pinas (underboard).

im working here sa saudigiving a chance to work in my employer private clinic.BSN po ako pro underboard.tapos 4 yers na po akong nag wowork as a staff nurse. di ako maka take ng prometric kasi not a nurse ang visa ko.
Now my employer give me a chance to give me my visa as a nurse and take a prometric exam. even im underboard.
hoping and praying to pass.

Sa Akin Lang Po said...

@anonymous (february 26), salam alaikum. first and foremost, i think you have to take a good look on the Saudi Council For Health Specialties' requirements for registration as a registered nurse. here's the direct link from their website: http://english.scfhs.org.sa/Book/ACC/form_2007_scfhs_no_3.pdf

i believe the Saudi Council is quite lax on the registration for the Prometric Exam/Saudi Council Exam since almost everybody can just log-in and register online without any credentials to present.

let us say you were able to get and pass the exam and you're given the certificate... that is just the first step, mate. when you have to officially register, you will have to present the documents required (see the form) and that includes your professional license (if applicable).. i am speaking here about the process that i know any registered nurse with foreign professional experience has to go through..

registering for the first time as a registered nurse in Saudi is a different story, that i cannot provide input for you.. anyway, if you don't have any license to present, they may consider your experience as a pre-registration experience just like any fresh Saudi graduate does.. i guess you will have to contact the officials from Saudi Council to know more about your case.

good luck! ;)

thank you.

Sa Akin Lang Po said...

@mel, almost the same lang ng NLE or any nursing exam available. just omit the "only in the philippines" nursing stuff.. by the book ka mag-review, or try to browse or sit the nclex review questions para you have an idea how the test feels/looks like ;)

thankz for the reply.. =)

Hello, ask ku po if Nurse Technician ba talaga ang category na pipiliin? I'm planning kasi to take the prometric exam even though I still have no agency..

Another po, totoo po ba na mas may edge na mahire ng employer kapag prometric passer na?

Male nurse po kasi aku, kaya naghahanap aku ng edge para madali mahire. Mostly kasi female ang hinahanap jan sa Saudi.

Anonymous said...

sir..may problem po ata sa site ng prometric? hindi ako mkaalis dun sa page ng " available test sites" type ko Philippines pero ala lumalabas eh..magpapasched sana ako ng exam.. help po please..thanks..

dax.

Sa Akin Lang Po said...

@hello, i am working as a registered nurse here in saudi arabia in the emergency room.. and back in the philippines, i took the 'nurse technician' exam as per agency's advice.. i also know somebody who mistakenly selected the 'nurse specialist' exam and she claimed that the exam was just fine (just like any other nurse examination).. anyway, in her saudi council id (equivalent of prc id in the philippines) it's indicated that she is a 'nurse technician' even though she took the other exam. it's also noteworthy that the saudi recruitment office (the government partner of saudi's ministry of health in the philippines) instructs their nurse applicants to take the 'nurse technician' exam. good luck!

Sa Akin Lang Po said...

@anonymous (march 25), try using another computer.. make sure your system would not hang while you are completing the application.. if the problem persists after 2 or 3 days, there may be some technical difficulties within the website itself.. (as of typing this, i could not even enter the site..)

JaneRN said...

hi po. thanks sa info. sobrang dami mo natulungang mga nurses na nagtatanong sa prometric. anyway, nag take ako ng Health Authority Abu Dhabi (HAAD) dati. licensure exam sa abu dhabi for nurses. 150 items kaso di ako nakapasa. mag take ako ng prometric this coming april 2011, totoo po ba na pag click mo yung "END" dun sa computer, makikita mo score mo? kasi sa HAAD nung pag click ko ng "END" pinuntahan na ko nung nag aassist at nag print na sila ng paper, nakalagay "passed or failed" pero walang score.. thanks :) Please pray for me na sana makapasa ako sa april. salamat :)

Sa Akin Lang Po said...

@JaneRN, that's an affirmative.. kapag click mo ng END lalabas na agad yung score sheet indicating your final score and Pass/Fail. That's my experience when I had my exam last March 2010. I am not sure if they have changed it or whatsoever. Good luck!

good day madam i just want to ask.if talaga ba dapat ang mode of payment is through credit card? what if i don’t have one..hindi b pwedeng sa ateneo prof.na lng mag pay as in cash ..or is there other mode of payment?tnx

Sa Akin Lang Po said...

@Joyce, it's a sir, not madam.. ;) the scheduling (and payment) is entirely done through the world-wide-web using a credit card.. i guess you just have to look for somebody who has it (your mom, aunt, uncle, friend, etc.) then just pay them in cash. that's what my friends did back then.. you'll go to ateneo professional just to take the exam, no other transactions whatsoever. hope this helps..

anne said...

Hi, thanks for sharing your infos about this. May I ask, are you in K.S.A already? Did you get your I.D na? and are there still requirements when getting an ID in KSA? I'll be taking the exam on wednesday. I hope to get a positive result too, I feel like taking another PNLE, so anxious. :)) Thanks again :D

Sa Akin Lang Po said...

@anne, it's my employer who arranged everything.. we (with my colleagues) just handed them our papers (the requirements) and next thing we know is we were just given our license cards.. though it took a month or two.. i'm jeddah based and i work for the city's largest private hospital..

Sa Akin Lang Po said...

@Arianejane.damaso, try to read back on the comments above specifically the one dated February 27, 2011 11:20 PM.. my response to your query is almost the same. and if you'll look closely at the bottom part of the sample Prometric Exam score/passing certificate, you'll notice that it says, "4. You must have a minimum 2 years experience in the same specialty before you can work in the K.S.A."

Anonymous said...

ilang percent po ang passing rate? thanks

@JaneRN, congrats! ;)

Sa Akin Lang Po said...

@anonymous (april 15), i have no idea.. but i think as long as you answer half of the questions right then you'll pass the exam.. no wonder why it is very rare for somebody to fail.. but there have been reports wherein a score of 40/70 (57%) failed..

Anonymous said...

hello, just want to ask if there's SATA questions like there in NCLEX?...:D o puro 1 sagot lang per questions?... Thans a lotlot in advance!...:)

reinna said...

sir ask kolng kasi sinisearch ko about the prometric for my sister. Iyi-schedule ko kasi sya. bakit po sa NON-ELIG ang category na iki-clik pag magi-start na sa registration and not either yung sa CERTIFICATION or KSA...what does that NON-ELIG would mean in your exam. may effect ba sya dun sa license na makukuha? thank you

Sa Akin Lang Po said...

@reinna, as i claimed in my post above, "the other options apply only to those who are currently in the kingdom..." so if your sister is currently residing in saudi arabia then she/you must be choosing 'KSA' or 'certification' (if she's applying for advanced practice).. the above step by step procedures outline the things i had to go through while in the philippines.. anyhow, i did not have any problems obtaining my license in saudi as a registered nurse.. but of course, things do change. you may ask the saudi council directly for your enquiry..

@angelica, they have a ready list of the names of persons taking the exam for a specific time of that day.. also make sure that you printed the confirmation e-mail sent to you by prometric 10 to 15 minutes after your online registration. i believe that will do. also, don't forget your legal IDs. ;)

Sa Akin Lang Po said...

@anonymous (may 05), salamat din and you're welcome. ;)

Sa Akin Lang Po said...

@Ryan, how did you know my facebook account? ;p unfortunately, the only mode of payment for the exam is through credit card. some of my colleagues had the same problem before, their solution? they used our agency's credit card (they applied online while inside the agency) then they paid the agency the equivalent amount of $90 in philippine peso. or you could ask any friend or relative to use their account number then you just pay them the amount. good luck! ;)

hi.. im new here.. i read ur post.. and i was glad you shared your experience when taking the exam.. it would be very helpful for those nurses who plan to work in ksa, like me..
anyhow,,just wanna ask if the work experience as a clinical instructor would credit/count as a work experience? or do they really require a staff nurse experience? hope to hear from u.. tnx ;)

Sa Akin Lang Po said...

@elena abdusalim, i don't know. e-mail Saudi Council na lang.

@anonymous (may 11), i don't know. like my reply to ms. elena, e-mail Saudi Council directly.

@anonymous (may 22, 8:34), i'm talking about nurse technician dun sa score.. i don't know with nurse specialist.. pero based nga sa ibang nurse specialist ang napindot, parang normal nursing exam lang naman din yun kinuha nila.. plus when they arrived here ang binigay din sa kanilang license ay nurse technician..

@anonymous (may 22, 10:44), any comfortable clothing.. no specific attire required.. btw, ateneo professional (location of prometric) is a learning institution, so it will be best if you'll wear something like smart-casual.. i was in maong pants plus polo shirt when i took the exam..

@anonymous (may 23), it actually depends on the employer.. some of my colleagues are clinical instructors before.. but still they got hired..

babyphat said...

i see... if in case, the employer would count the c.i. experience, and then i passed d exam.. i saw the saudi council licensing form, nandun sa form nla sa table, na yung experience and then name of hospital or health center..where in fact,im working as a c.i.. so,paano bh yun? do u have any idea about it? name nlng bh ng school ang isusulat ko,pag ganun?
thanks for d reply :)

hello guys, i cannot answer all your queries since i'm just a nurse who shared my experience in taking the exam. also, i'm not representing prometric/saudi council so for technical queries you may want to address them directly.. however, reading my replies to posts above can be of great help to your questions.. just read back on the replies. okay?

@anonymous (may 29), that's really the rate here in Saudi. in my case, the employer shouldered the saudi council registration.. we just gave them the requirements and we got our IDs after 2 months.

@anonymous (may 31), my prometric exam rating/result was not authenticated.. i just brought the original form with the dry seal signed by the exam proctor here in saudi and had my employer process it. anyhow, it was honored by the saudi council.. i believe that since prometric is a computer based system, the council will have ready access to the authenticity of your exam by taking a look at their system.

@anonymous (june 2), i have no idea.. but since employers 'batch process' the IDs i think they won't release a single ID for individuals walking-in to their office to claim theirs.. just my two cents..

@axl86, i think the address won't matter.. the important thing is the name and the date of birth.. those will be their basis of verifying if you are the 'real person' to take the exam..

@fats, it must be your computer that has a problem.. try restarting your system and clear your internet browsing history including the 'cache' OR try doing the process in a different computer.. if the problem still persists, then there must be an error in their online system.. don't worry, that's just temporary..

@anonymous (june 11), to be safe just present your professional license and/or driver's license.. other than that don't bother.. also, if you're planning to work in Saudi eventually you'll need that passport.. just follow-up wih the DFA..

OR better ride a taxi who (the driver) knows the streets of makati and show him the map i posted above.. if you'll be commuting, give an allowance of 1-2 hours just in case you get lost (which i doubt). good luck!

hello po.. i have a question please,, if u just know about this.. last year i had taken my prometric exam in the philippines then i passed. im here now in saudi employed as clinic nurse for almost 7 months. My employer ask me to take my prometric exam again for the 2nd time because they said that they lost my original certificate of passing in prometric. And i dont have any copy of it. Is it okay to retake the prometric exam considering that it is valid for 3 yrs, right? whats the best thing to do please...

thank you. just seeking for advise :D God bless and more power.

Anonymous said...

thanx po..very helpful... mas mahirap po ba yung nurse specialist keysa sa technician? kasi specialist yung na schedule ko,..thanx po...

Anonymous said...

i need your response...pls.

Sa Akin Lang Po said...

@axl86, congrats. ;)

@anonymous (june 20), that's a difficult situation.. i am pretty sure prometric has an electronic copy of your exam results in their database.. the problem is how you'll be able to get one.. try to contact prometric in the philippines if they CAN release a copy of the exam result.. then just have them snail mail it to you through DHL, UPS, or LBC (of course you'll have to pay for the charges).. actually, it is largely your employer's fault that they lost the original copy of your exam and it is them to be blamed.. in the first place, the moment that you stepped on saudi soils they should have started the application process for your license.. good luck.

@all, lately i've been receiving queries that are beyond my capacity to answer... guys, i only shared my experience in taking the exam.. other than that, the technicalities, the processing post-registration, and others i cannot answer anymore.. please contact the council directly.

good luck!

joren said...

nope they dont have any copies of your result they've told that before they handed your certificate that you should take care of that because they dont store or reproduce your exam result yun sabi sakin nung nagtake ako eh...by the way share ko dn mga tanung sakin more on management on cancer patient tas rheumatic heart dse, diptheria, colostomy, management in fracture..bsta puro situational kaya nyo un bsta analyze lng ska read carefully kasi my mga given answers na po yung iba thanks! thanks you dn s amy ari ng blog na to really helps alleviate anxiety reading your blog about prometric exam!!thankyou!!

@joren, thanks for your input! congrats. ;)

tanong ko lang pano ba ang style ng exam ? kas sabi sa internet, same lang daw like NLE...may nagsabi naman by the book ang exam...what do u mean by the book versus like NLE exam ? On my part if you say by the book, it is like exam sa school, that will be a little difficult sa lawak, and I know 70 items lang ang prometric exam...can u help me. Thanks

Anonymous said...

hello po.. tanungin ko lang po kung pwede ako kumuha ng exam without any agency?

salamat po! :)

Sa Akin Lang Po said...

@anonymous (july 03), our philippine NLE is by the book.. you're right, parang exam sa school pero lahat ng areas of nursing kasama.. anything under the sun sa nursing pero 70 items lang.

@anonymous (july 4), no need for an agency... anyway, if you see the procedures above, the registration for the exam does not require any agency whatsoever.. ;)

Anonymous said...

salamat sa reply...ako yun nag tanung nung July 3...katatapos ko lang mag exam kanina, pasado po ako. salamat kasi nakatulong sa akin ang blog mo, very big help...kasi sa info palang, umaapaw na :)))
God Bless and more luck :)))

Sa Akin Lang Po said...

@anonymous (july 03 and 06), congrats.. meron bang nagbago sa procedure or meron ka bang gustong i-share na new info regarding the registration and the exam?

Anonymous said...

@Sa Akin Lang Po: hi there! =) thank you so much for this blog and for sharing your experience with us. your blog has been of much great help to your fellow nurses. :D i took the exam yesterday, and thank God, i passed! God bless you always and may you continue to be a blessing to others! :)

DreiRN said...

Hi! I will be taking the prometric exam tom at 1:00PM. It just so happened that i browsed through your blog and found out that i should've chosen Nurse Technician instead of Nurse Specialist. I'm kinda worried right now cause i don't know what kind of exam will i take because as you said, you chose Nurse Technician and the Passing rate is 40%. I hope there's not much difference with the exam and the passing rate...
More power and God Bless Kabayan!!!

Sa Akin Lang Po said...

@DreiRN, according to my friends who ticked nurse specialist, the exam was just like any ordinary nursing licensure exam.. good luck..

yasmine said...

hello thanks for your info. i have a problem kasi i chose nursing specialist. and my exam is on saturday july 9, 20011.. baka iba ang questions and mas mahirap.. huhuhuh help po :-(

yasmine said...

may same question nga pala sa akin above. thanks again for your help.. it reduces my anxiety.. hope i can pass.

DreiRN said...

@Yasmine Hi! Thank God i passed the examination! I was really worried kasi nga nurse-specialist ung itatake ko. Tapos sa lobby ng Ateneo Prof. bldg sa log-in book ng guard puro nurse-tech ang kukunin ng mga mageexam so talgang kabado ako. Tip ko lang, wag na magdala ng kung ano ano, except ung confirmation letter and your valid gov't id (PRC, Passport). Mahigpit sila (SUPER HIGPIT). Makinig mabuti sa instructions nila. About the exam, more on MS talaga. Pero i'm sure kaya mo yan! I think the passing rate for nurse-tech is 40 percent, while for the nurse-specialist is 45 percent. Just correct me if i'm wrong. God Bless and Good Luck!!!

yasmine said...

@DreiRN Hello! Im so happy too i passed the exam kanina. i think ako lang ang nag take ng exam for Nurse Specialist.. sa akin more on Pedia and MS too.. i really don't know about the passing rate. Ang problem ko ngayon wala pa akong employer! hehehhe at least i've done one of the steps. Thank you again and God bless us all... :-)

kaleng said...

Sa Akin Lang Po said...

@yasmine, congrats! basta meron kang experience na at least 2 years madali kang makakahanap. sa ermita, manila lang sobrang dami mo ng pwedeng puntahan.. good luck! ;)

@kaleng, uhm.. just look at the confirmation e-mail's reference number.. if it bears the same application/registration number then you don't have to worry.. the important thing is you get a specific time and date of the exam. the problem is if the system registered you thrice... if that's the case then you're charged 3 times as well.. so that sums up to $240.. you won't need the credit card on the exam date because registration is done online.. you'll know if you were successful in your registration if you received an e-mail.. you go to ateneo just to take the exam, nothing more.. good luck. ;)

Hi, any information regarding the prometric exam for EMT-Basic? I'm was required to it instead of the Nurse technician/specialist exam. I really have no idea about the test, my agency also said that it's the first time they have candidates who are to take the emt-basic exam. my only idea is, technically, it should be easier than the nurse exam. thanks!

dear sir "Sa Akin Lang Ito", i'm one of the follower of this website you'd selflessly created para sa lahat. me and my friend had successfully passed the exam. thank God! :) Hulog talaga ng langit sa amin ang blog na ito coz it really did help us. In return, for the benefit of those who will read my post and planning to take the exam, kindly allow me to share with you some recalled topics i have encountered during the exam.

> Perioperative Nursing: effects of epidural anesthesia, Planned/ Scheduled Surgery (when to give health teaching?), role of a circulating nurse, position during cardiac surgery (dorsal recumbent? prone?sims?),nsg care for client undergone radical mastectomy, obtaining consent,

> Pediatric Nursing: Cystic Fibrosis, Growth and development (Toddlers), materials used to enhanced eye hand coordination of patient with cerebral palsy, Infant feeding (how often?), Apgar scoring, Glassgow coma scale for pedia, pneumonia (priority nursing dx)

> Med-Surg: NGT insertion, Iron Deficiency Anemia (Foods rich in iron), Eye problem (myopia), seizure disorder (priority nursing intervention during the episodes/attack), foods low in sodium, Parkinson's Disease, CVA management, DM type II

>Pharmacology: Action of spirinolactone (Aldactone),Furosemide, drug and IV fluid computation

>Fundamentals of Nursing: Principles of heat transfer (Conduction, Convection, Radiation, Evaporation),

Others: Abduction, Adduction. nagpresent din abnormal laboratory values pero naka indicate kung ano ang normal range kaya hindi ako nahirapan determine kung ano ang abnormal lab result. that was in my exam. im not sure kung pati sa iba ganon. but i must agree na some part of the exam obvious na yung sagot. may ipepresent na parang chart or graph then dun mo makikita ang answer. if not mistaken around 2-3 questions ang lumitaw sa exam ko na ganon.

NOTE: These were the type of questions na lumabasa on my exam na gusto ko lang share sa inyo for you to give an added info. I have noticed exam may vary from time to time. kasi sabay kaming nag exam ng friend ko on the same day and same time, after the exam pinag usapan namin ang mga questions na naencounter namin only to find out wala kahit isang tanong na pareho. Siguro it was the protocol of the testing center to present different type of questions per individual to protect its name and prevent the spread of leakage. Anyway that was only my theory :)

To inspire you more, please don't get me wrong na nagyayabang ako. i haven't had much time na magreview because im already working.i only got two weeks to prepare for the exam. pero sa 2 weeks na yun, 2-3 days lang ako nakasilip sa notes ko. stock knowledge and MORE PRAYERS talaga ang naging weapon at nagsalba sa akin the moment i've seated on the examination room of the testing center.

Kaya nyo yan guys! if you passed the Philippine NLE you will definitely do the same on this one. Kung kinaya namin kaya nyo din. Don't forget to PRAY.

So, good luck for those who will take the exam and congrats to those who have already passed... cheers to that! :)

@juvydpampanga, yasmine, and others, thanks!

@anonymous (july 21 10:58PM), my post is about the Suadi Council exam, not the Qatar exam... so you should clarify that to your employer/agency. plus other facts are already given above.. you just have to take a good look on the details.

@medic, sorry i have no info regarding the EMT-B exam.

@RN_female, the e-mail of Saudi Council is: schs@scfhs.org

@mmp, follow this link, it may help: http://english.scfhs.org.sa/Book/ACC/form_2007_scfhs_no_3.pdf

@ms.pineapple juice, thanks! the readers will surely be thankful for that detailed post!

@grishamyrnelli, good luck!

@roshie, i'm doubtful with your agency's advice... your primary purpose of going to saudi is to work. and your only evidence of eligibility is your saudi council exam.. and if your company cannot register you as a midwife within a specific period of time (usually 3 months/90days), then they may send you back again to the philippines at your own expense.. if i were you, i'd review and retake the exam.. mahirap sumugal lalo na sa ibang bansa. just my two cents.

roshie said...

thanks for the advice..can u give some info. kung san ako pwde mkkuha ng rviewer ng exam?..at saka tlga b 5 thou. ung bayad every exam...?

Sa Akin Lang Po said...

@roshie, the first thing that came to my mind: the stores in front of PRC.. they sell a lot of reviewers there.. they sell photocopied books, cds, dvds, of almost every reviewer available.. another one, if you are quite the techy type, you may want to consider downloading free e-books at http://library.nu just search "midwifery" or "obstetrics." good luck!

Anonymous said...

..bakit ang hirap naman po magregister sa pagkuha ng prometric, ganun po ba talaga? laging lumalabas "error, pls try again later". kilangan ko na kasi kumuha this month po.. any help, para mapadali pag register ko po?? salamat..

Anonymous said...

sobrang hirap po ba ng prometric???

Sa Akin Lang Po said...

@anonymous (august 5), i tried to register from here (saudi), i didn't have any problem.. try using a different web browser, or try another computer with a different internet connection..

@anonymous (august 6), the answer to that depends on the person taking the exam, if you're prepared then it would be easy, if not then it would be difficult.. but a lot have claimed that it's just like our local board exam.

Ask koh lng poh, I was scheduled to take the exam on the 30th 0f this month, Is it necessary for me to call the pometric center to confirm my slot or the confirmation slip i've got in my e-mail is enough to assume that i have the slot to take the exam?tnx in advance.

Anonymous said...

i think ur confirmation slip is enough to prove that that u will take the exam...anyway you cannot be registered if they think they don't have slot or seat for you,,to call to the prometric center as ive experienced is really hard,,i have also inquiries to be asked diretly in the exam center but unfortunately i still cant contact them until now..

MERON DIN BA TEST CENTER SA CEBU?? TANX

@daniel, simplegirl, ess-111779, anonymous (sept 12), elise, salamat!

@sweetiebump, congrats! Salamat din sa pag-post ng mga pointers para sa mga iba nating kababayan na mag-eexam pa lang. :) regarding “pass” or “passed,” the use of pass, I think, is acceptable if that “pass” is used to refer to the score, not the end-result of your deed (passing the exam).. it’s like saying, 54=pass; 54 is a passing rate.. the number 54 is automatically designated as a passing score.. ano daw? Ahaha.. labo!

@janine, this reply may be late.. try using another internet browser, another computer, another internet connection, until gumana.. if it continues to display the error message, then the problem is with the prometric site.. OR pwede ring reason yung sinabi ni elise. :)

@jawknee, thanks.. whoa?! Ganon na ka-in-demand ang prometric ngayon? You registered September 16 and your slot is January?!

@Ms.yaehkicko5, prometric exam is just one of the many requirements in obtaining a license here in Saudi and solely passing it does not guarantee your licensure.. when you reach here, they’ll have to double check your documents, your education, your training, your experience, etc. until they prove that you’re eligible to receive a Saudi license, then after a few months.. kalas! Meron ka ng lisenya..

@anonymous (sept 17), eto yung sabi sa e-mail after the confirmation of examination date: “If you need to reschedule or cancel your exam, you must call the registration center, or go to www.prometric.com, no later than noon, 72 hours prior to your appointment. Candidates will need to repay the testing fee.” I believe the moment you registered, mababawas na kaagad yung charge sa credit card na ginamit mo..

@anonymous (sept 18), it’s a computer generated system.. so what appears in your confirmation e-mail is what appears in the testing center’s database.. I didn’t have to call the center for the confirmation.. I just came there, saw my name in the examinees list.. presented the printed confirmation slip.. then kalas! Exam na.. unless merong natural disaster siguro..

@anonymous (sept 22), ang alam ko meron din sa Cebu. Tread, Inc., Suite 308, Centro Maximo D. Jakosalem St., Cebu City. Tel no. 032-2535514. ;)

Actually galing na po ako sa saudi and nagtry ako apply sa singapore as Nursing Aide then passed the exam for Enrolled Nurse, 1 of their requirements is to verify the SCFHS professional ID which is ung Nurse Technician ang nilagay.. So nikuquestion ako kung bakit? Nagbasa-basa ako online, someone said it is equivalent sa PRC ID natin.. My agent told me na baka daw hindi ihhonor dito sa singapore un, ano po ba dapat gawin? Please help.. Tnx..

@anonoymous (September 23), i’m sorry I can’t answer your query about the “nurse technician” thing.. all I know is lahat ng kilala kong nurses dito panay nurse technician ang nakalagay. You may want to address your question directly to their office through their e-mail.

@Ms.yahkicko5, the exam is valid for 3 years only.

@jhoy, I don’t share personal info over the web. Sorry.

@velle, elise, and reesay, congrats and welcome to saudi!

@anonymous (October 10), elise answered your question. :)

@anonymous (October 14), kailangan mo rin ng board exam results para makapag-apply ng license sa Saudi Council.. so I think it’s mandatory that you pass the local board first.. plus according to my sources, when you take the Saudi Council here in Saudi it costs more than SAR800 and that includes the processing of your papers (including your diploma, board certificate, board rating, etc.).

@leng, I don’t get your question.. please rephrase..

@anonymous (October 15), just as long as the PRC ID that you will present on the testing date is not expired I don’t see a problem. (I based my response thinking that you renewed your ID way before the exact expiration date. Remember, any ID is valid only up to the expiration date, beyond that it’s invalid already.)
